In fine, fast but blustery conditions, the final of the BBC Major singles was played out on Saturday August 11th between Brad Donaldson and James Beech.

It turned out to be a cracker of a game with James recovering from being 11-1 down after 5 ends to score a brilliant four and a two in consecutive ends to begin a great fight back. From then on it was nip and tuck all the way with the lead changing a number of times.

Gusting winds made for difficult bowls as it was fully behind the bowlers from the Darling Street end and right against coming back the other way. This plus the green running at around 19 seconds, meant real skill levels were needed.

After a great tussle, Brad put together a couple of really fine ends on 34 & 35 to go 3 ahead and finished up winning a thrilling final 31 – 27 on the 36th end.

Congratulations to both players for a wonderful final played in great spirit.
