Together with 6 others (including the young cousin of the Victorian Premier) they formed the Broken Hill Company. Their first consignment of Broken Hill ore resulted in 35,605 ounces of silver. Their company went to become one of the World’s largest mining companies. Who would have thought the Balmain Bowling Club is 5 years older than “the Big Australian”, BHP.
