Women want to Vote

Who Would Have Thought - Votes for Woman

Who would have thought that in 1880 when the Balmain Bowling Club was formed, woman did not have the right to vote.  Indeed, it wasn’t until 1893 when New Zealand became the first country to allow woman to vote.  This was followed by South Australia in 1893.  Western Australia gave women the right to vote in 1899 and the rest of the country in 1902.  In 1920, Balmain Bowling Club became one of the first clubs to allow woman the right to bowl.
